Sioux Center Schools on Lockdown – UPDATE

The Sioux Center Police Department responded to a threat discovered in the Sioux Center Community School District high school building. The school district is in a lockdown in all district buildings, and the buildings are secured. This is not an active shooter situation at this point. Law enforcement remains on scene.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Facebook page, a threatening note was written on a bathroom wall at the Sioux Center High School. As a result, school districts in Sioux Center and neighboring communities of Hull, Orange City and Rock Valley locked down as a precautionary measure.

At this time there is NOT an active threat, and the Sioux Center Police Department is investigating the original incident. Area law enforcement have increased patrol and presence by all schools.
