Sioux Center Health ranked ninth in Iowa, and Orange City Area Health System ranked 12th in Newsweek’s 2027 America’s Best-in-State Hospitals rankings. Both Sioux County hospitals also earned Patient Experience Awards for the second straight year.
Sioux Center Health climbed seven spots from 16th in the 2026 rankings. Orange City Area Health System rose eight spots from 20th. Spencer Municipal Hospital moved from 12th to 10th, giving northwest Iowa three hospitals in the state’s top 12.
Sioux Center Health CEO Cory Nelson credited the hospital’s employees and medical staff in an October 29th press release.
“This honor reflects the collective efforts of the people who show up every day committed to providing exceptional care to our patients and communities,” Nelson wrote.
Newsweek and Statista recognized 800 hospitals nationwide in the 2027 edition, including 20 in Iowa. The rankings considered hospital quality, recommendations from medical professionals, patient experience, and whether hospitals track outcomes reported by patients.
