Voters in the George-Little Rock Community School District will decide Tuesday, November 3, whether to authorize up to $14.95 million in general obligation bonds for school improvements in Little Rock and George. The question appears on the ballot as Proposition SD and needs at least 60 percent approval to pass.
What Would Change at Each School?
At the elementary school in Little Rock, the district would add ground-level classrooms, renovate restrooms, upgrade heating and cooling systems, and install a new playground.
At the middle and high school in George, the plan would update the spaces where students study agriculture, industrial technology, and family and consumer sciences. It also calls for renovations to the kitchen and commons, elevator and fitness center upgrades, track resurfacing, and improvements to the bus barn.
How Would the District Pay for It?
The district estimates the full project would cost about $17 million. The proposed $14.95 million bond would cover part of that cost, with school sales tax revenue funding the balance. Property owners can use the tax impact calculator on the district’s bond information page to estimate what approval would mean for them.
Polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Lyon County’s George-Little Rock sample ballot, Proposition SD appears on the back, below the statewide constitutional amendment.
