Two Arrested in Theft of Railroad Property

A joint investigation between the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of two people Tuesday. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested 46-year-old David Case, and 33-year-old Margaret Jakobson, both of Sibley.

The arrest stemmed from a report that Case and Jakobsen entered BNSF Railway property to steal scrap metal.

During the investigation, authorities determined that Case and Jakobson stole railroad tie plates and steel stakes and were attempting to sell it as scrap iron at a salvage business.

Both Case and Jakobson were taken to the Sioux County Jail where they were each charged with second degree theft.
