Jamie De Jong resigns as Northwestern women’s tennis coach

Northwestern women’s tennis head coach Jamie De Jong has announced her resignation from the position.

“I’m thankful for the contributions and commitment Jamie made to our women’s tennis program,” said Vice President for Athletics Tony Hoops. “Jamie led with passion and lived out the mission of Raider Athletics the past seven years in her leadership role.”

Since her hiring in 2018, De Jong has guided the Raiders to 41 wins, making the GPAC tournament four times in seven seasons. She has coached 23 All-GPAC singles or doubles honorees and 34 NAIA Scholar Athletes.

“I want to genuinely thank all who have consistently supported, encouraged and prayed for our women’s tennis program over these past seven years,” De Jong added. “It’s been so encouraging to know people care. Together, we have built up a solid program!”

The Red Raiders finished fourth in the GPAC this past season with a 9-10 overall record, going 3-3 in conference play.

“Mostly, I will miss the girls,” said De Jong. “They are all so unique and have their own paths, but what brings us together is the love for the Lord and the love of this game.”

A national search for a new women’s tennis coach will begin immediately.
