(KIWA) — An 86-year-old Rock Valley woman was taken to the hospital after her vehicle struck a parked car and flipped onto its side Tuesday afternoon.
The Rock Valley Police Department says the crash happened at approximately 1 p.m. on September 1st. Evelyn Bajema was driving a 2015 Honda southbound on 18th Avenue Southeast when she struck a legally parked 2004 Volkswagen.
The impact caused Bajema’s vehicle to flip onto its passenger side, trapping her inside. Members of the Rock Valley Fire Department freed Bajema from the vehicle, and the Rock Valley Ambulance transported her to Hegg Health Center Hospital.
No one was inside the parked Volkswagen when the crash occurred.
Damage was estimated at $15,000 to Bajema’s Honda and $6,000 to the Volkswagen.
