Karinna Tel of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Tel, a sophomore from Puyallup, Washington, totaled 10 points with four goals and two assists in wins over Mount Marty and Morningside. Tel recorded her second career hat trick in the Defenders 6-1 against Mount Marty, scoring all three goals in the first half. She followed with a goal and two assists in the Defenders huge 3-0 win against Morningside in Sioux City. Tel leads the GPAC with 30 points this season, ranks second in goals (12) and is tied for third in assists (6).
Sydney Hooyer of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Hooyer, a senior from Pella, Iowa, was part of a defense that held opponents to a combined one goal in match wins against Mount Marty and Morningside. Hooyer played 187 minutes in the wins, including all 90 in the Defenders 3-0 shutout win at Morningside. Hooyer added an assist in the Defenders 6-1 victory against Mount Marty.
