A Texas woman was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Alton.
According to the Orange City Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 12:08 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 10 and East Division Street.
Police say a 2021 GMC Sierra driven by 90-year-old Jerome Steve Kellen of Alton was westbound on Highway 10 and had stopped while waiting to turn left onto East Division Street. Kellen then allegedly turned in front of an eastbound 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 43-year-old Lindsay Kaye Thompson of San Angelo, Texas. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
Thompson was transported by Alton EMS to Orange City Area Health System for treatment of injuries. The extent of those injuries was not disclosed.
Damage was estimated at $35,000 to Kellen’s pickup and $40,000 to Thompson’s SUV.
Kellen was cited for failure to yield.
The Orange City Police Department was assisted by Alton Fire and EMS, the Orange City Fire Department, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office and C&H Body Repair.
