Sheldon Man Faces Felony Charge After Alleged THC Wax Possession

(KIWA) — A Sheldon man faces a felony drug charge after police allegedly found THC wax in his possession.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Sheldon Police Department with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court, 40-year-old Kory Long of Sheldon was arrested Saturday, July 18.

The officer states in the complaint that Long emptied his pockets and produced a silicone container holding a brown, wax-like material. Authorities say the substance tested positive for THC.

The complaint alleges that Long admitted the container belonged to him.

Long has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a Class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison under Iowa’s felony sentencing provisions.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29.

At last report, Long remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of bond.

The charge is an allegation, and Long is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
