Little Rock woman pleads not guilty in childs death

LYON COUNTY, Iowa (KTIV) – A Little Rock, Iowa woman arrested last month for her infant son’s death, has pleaded not guilty.

According to authorities, Sydney Schneidermann was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of child endangerment resulting in death, after the death of her six-week-old son.

Court documents, filed on Wednesday, Sept. 11, reveal that Schneidermann entered a plea of not guilty in the death of her son and waived her right to a speedy trial.

In August, Schneidermann and her husband, Brenan Schneidermann were arrested and taken into custody without incident and booked into the Lyon County Jail.

Investigators say the baby died in September 2023 from inflicted trauma while under his parents’ care. When Schneidermann arrived at the Emergency Room in Rock Rapids, Iowa, medics determined the baby was in critical condition and the infant was immediately flown to a Sioux Falls hospital.

The infant remained in the hospital where he died from his injuries on Sept. 25, 2023. Officials say the Iowa Medical Examiner found head trauma and healed rib fractures, and an autopsy ruled the baby’s death as a homicide.

Schneidermann’s husband, Brenan Schneidermann was charged with one count of child endangerment resulting in death. He has been set to be arraigned on Monday, Sept. 23 in Lyon County Court.
