Northwestern Hires Beaver as Men’s Golf Head Coach

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College has hired Jonathan Beaver as its next head coach of the men’s golf program.

“We are very excited to welcome Jonathan to Northwestern as our men’s golf coach,” Vice President for Athletics Tony Hoops stated. “Jonathan’s extensive knowledge of the game as a teaching professional and coach, combined with his strong faith and support of Northwestern’s Christian mission were exactly what we were seeking in this important hire.”

Bringing extensive knowledge and experience to a perennial GPAC title contender, Beaver is a member and certified professional of the PGA of America. He has held roles as the Director of Golf at Emerald Falls Golf Club in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City and most recently served simultaneously as a PGA Teaching Professional at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center and an assistant head golf coach at Dordt University.

“I would like to thank Vice President of Athletics Tony Hoops and President Christy for giving me the opportunity to join the pursuit of Northwestern’s mission,” Beaver said. “I would also like to thank my wife, April, and my two children, Allison and Andrew, for their support and encouragement to follow the opportunities that God has placed in front of us.”

In his role at The Ridge, Beaver created individual and group player development programs and led clinics, lessons, and junior golf programs. While at Dordt, he assisted with practices and tournaments, recruiting, and individual improvement plans.

“Having known Coach Aaron Aberson for close to 10 years, I am very familiar with the legacy he has built and is passing on,” Beaver added. “I’m looking forward to working with Northwestern’s extremely talented athletes and helping them grow both on and off the course. It’s an exciting time to be a part of this program.”

Beaver received the Nebraska PGA Player Development award in 2019, was a three-time finalist for the Nebraska PGA Youth Development award and a two-time finalist for Nebraska PGA Teacher of the Year.

As a player, Beaver at RHEMA Bible College (Okla.) won the 2005 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) individual title. He also qualified for the PGA Professional Championship four times (2017-20).

Hailing from Salinas, California, Beaver graduated from RHEMA Bible College in 2005 with a ministry of helps degree. He currently resides in Orange City with his wife, April, and children, Allison and Andrew.
