ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College and MOC-Floyd Valley High School are joining together to dedicate a plaque commemorating the life and memory of Aden De Jong.
The plaque will be dedicated following game two of Northwestern’s baseball doubleheader on Saturday, April 18. Game times are scheduled for 3:00/5:30 p.m. Friends, family, and supporters of the De Jong’s, Northwestern, and MOC-FV are invited to attend the program.
Its display, in the shape of home plate, includes 1 Timothy 4:12 and John 3:30 in Aden’s handwriting alongside his portrait. Donated by the Northwestern baseball parents, the plaque will be permanently installed on the southwest side of the concessions stand in the baseball/softball complex.
An education major at Northwestern, Aden was an active member of the Northwestern and Orange City community playing and helping coach baseball for Northwestern and for the local middle school youth baseball organization. His passion for serving others was recognized in 2024 as the winner of the inaugural “Unsung Hero Award” at the N-Dub’s end of year athletic awards show. De Jong passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2025, at the age of 22.
