GPAC Indoor Track and Field Honors Announced for the 2023 Season

(Sioux City, Iowa) – Honors for the 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Track and Field Season have been announced.

The top Track and Field Performances-of-the-Meet and the Coach-of-the-Year honors were voted on by the league coaches. GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet honors went to the highest individual point scorers in the meet. The GPAC Athletes-of-the-Meet winners are the GPAC Athletes-of-the-Year.

Three records were broken on the men’s side this past weekend. Zach Turner from Doane broke the 60 meter hurdle record in prelims and again in finals (7.97 in finals). Trey Engen from Dordt broke the mile record (4:15.62). Dylan Kucera from Midland broke the shot put record (61-00.75).

The Outstanding Performances -of-the-Meet were voted on by the league coaches and are as follows:

Women’s Track Performance –

Annika Pingel, Doane – 600 meters (1:35.47)

Women’s Field Performance –

Allison Skala, Doane – Shot Put (61-00.75)

Trey Engen, Dordt – Mile (4:14.62)

Men’s Field Performance –

Dylan Kucera, Midland – Shot Put (61-00.75)

Adrianna Rodencal from Concordia was named the Female GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet scoring 28 points. Payton Mauldin from Dordt was named the Male GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet scoring 30 points. Both will be honored as the Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Indoor Track and Field Athletes-of-the-Year.

Matt Beisel and the Concordia staff has been named the Jim McMahon – Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women’s Indoor Coach/Program-of-the-Year. The Bulldogs won the women’s title on Saturday with 241.5 points.

The GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships were held on Friday and Saturday, February 17-18 at Concordia University, Nebraska.

The top eight in each event and top three relays are considered GPAC All-Conference for Indoor Track and Field.

The 2023 NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships are March 2-4 in Brookings, South Dakota, at South Dakota State University inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
