KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northwestern football senior Clayton Bosma was named NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week following his game-clinching blocked field goal against Dordt on Saturday.
Bosma, a senior defensive back from Sioux Center, Iowa, made one of the most memorable plays of the season, blocking Dordt’s game-tying field goal attempt in Saturday’s 3-0 win. With 17 seconds on the clock, he came through the left side to stuff the 41-yard attempt, securing the top-10 win. Defensively, Bosma added four tackles.
“Clayton had one of the best effort plays I have seen coming through and blocking the field goal,” head coach Matt McCarty said. “I’m proud of him and happy to see him make a huge play because of how he works and prepares day in and day out.”
Bosma becomes Northwestern’s second NAIA Player of the Week selection of the season, joining Parker Fryar earlier this season.
Texas Wesleyan’s Ernest Ceasar was the NAIA Offensive Player of the Week and Missouri Baptist’s Lee Livingston III was named NAIA Defensive Player of the Week.
