Class 1A state baseball runner-up Remsen St. Mary’s has had three players named first team all-state by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Pitcher Collin Homan, catcher Landon Waldscmidt and shortstop Daenon Loucks are all on Class 1A’s top squad while their outfielder teammate Hunter Pick made the second team. Akron-Westfield pitcher Nathan Gaswint and third baseman Jack Terpstra are also on the second team in Class 1A while their Westerner teammates Arik Allard and Ashton McCully made the third team, Allard in the outfield and McCully as a utility player.
MOC-Floyd Valley’s Brooks McCarty was named a second team all-state pitcher in Class 3A while Central Lyon catcher Matt Dieren made the second in Class 2A. Also in 2A, West Lyon had two players make the third team: catcher Bryson Childress and outfielder Tate Hawf. Unity Christian pitcher Braeden Bosma also earned third team honors in 2A.
