Western Christian Coach Tammi Veerbeek Sets Iowa Volleyball Wins Record

Western Christian volleyball coach Tammi Veerbeek is now the winningest coach in Iowa high school volleyball history.

Veerbeek earned career victory number 1,228 Thursday night as the Wolfpack swept Spirit Lake in the Class 3A Region One semifinals, winning 25-11, 25-18 and 25-16.

Veerbeek moves past EaVon Woodin, who coached at Pocahontas and Waverly-Shell Rock.

Veerbeek has led the Western Christian program since 1999, helping build one of the state’s premier volleyball programs. Under her guidance, the Wolfpack have become a perennial contender and are currently in the midst of 25-consecutive state tournament appearances.

Western Christian Athletic Director Travis Kooima said “Coach Veerbeek’s impact on our volleyball program, her coaching staff, and the young women she mentored over the past 28 years goes far beyond wins and losses. She embodies servant leadership and keeps Christ at the center of her program. Breaking the all-time wins record is a fitting testament to her dedication, passion, and relentless pursuit of excellence every single day.”

The Wolfpack return to postseason action Tuesday as Veerbeek looks to add to her record-setting win total.
