Northwestern College has launched a new initiative to address the growing demand for healthcare leaders in the region.
Northwestern College is expanding its nursing department with a new Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. The program, which focuses on Nursing Education Leadership, is designed for current registered nurses who already hold a baccalaureate degree. During a recent interview on The Daily Grind, program director Doctor Karie Stamer explained that the curriculum balances academic instruction with practical management skills.
The program is built for working professionals, offering a 100%, independent studies format that allows nurses to complete coursework around their existing shifts. Most courses run for eight weeks, and the entire degree typically takes 24 months to complete. While the degree emphasizes educational leadership, Stamer notes that the skills are applicable across a variety of medical settings.
The curriculum emphasizes servant leadership and emotional intelligence to prepare nurses for high-pressure, life-and-death situations that are common in the field.
Interested applicants can find more information or submit an inquiry via the college’s website at NWC IOWA-DOT-EDU.
