A Le Mars man has been sentenced in Sioux County District Court in a case involving a reported sexual assault of a minor and subsequent violations of a court order.
According to the Sioux County Attorney’s Office, 26-year-old Casey Rodriguez was sentenced on March 31st after pleading guilty to an amended charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, a serious misdemeanor.
The case stems from a report made in September 2025, when a victim told authorities she had been sexually assaulted by Rodriguez at a Sioux County residence in June of 2021. At the time, the victim was 13 years old.
Following an investigation, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office charged Rodriguez in October 2025 with third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony. A no-contact order was issued shortly after his arrest, prohibiting any contact with the victim or her household.
Court records show Rodriguez was later charged in March 2026 with four counts of contempt of court for violating the no-contact order.
As part of a plea agreement, Rodriguez pled guilty to the reduced misdemeanor assault charge. He was sentenced to 365 days in the Sioux County Jail, which was suspended, and placed on two years of probation. He is also required to complete a sex offender evaluation and follow all treatment recommendations.
Rodriguez also pleaded guilty to two counts of violating the no-contact order and was ordered to serve 14 days in jail for those violations.
The no-contact order has been extended for an additional five years.
We previously reported that Rodriguez had been arrested in October 2025 on a felony sexual abuse charge and later released on bond.
