Rain limits planting window for many Midwestern farmers

Rain has slowed spring fieldwork for many farmers and ag retailers.

Matt Carstens is with Iowa-based LANDUS Cooperative and says no one should be panicking yet.

“As I remind a lot of our farmers, the best corn yields are still planted on May 10th. So depending on where they are at in the Midwest, that number moves a little bit. By no means on the corn side is this devastating, (and) we needed the rain to get through some of the drought.”

He tells Brownfield the spring season seems to go by faster and faster.
