Crops emerging in Iowa, soil conditions favorable

An extension agronomist says corn and soybeans are rapidly emerging across Iowa.

Meaghan Anderson with Iowa State University says, “You can actually row some of these fields already, so I imagine that we’ll see a lot more emergence here in the coming days with the heat that we’re expecting.”

She tells Brownfield the planting pace has been variable due to some recent widespread rains, but farmers have been making the most of their opportunities.
