Chilly weather to cover the Corn Belt this weekend, more rain for the southern states

A cold front traversing the eastern U.S. will clear the Atlantic Seaboard by Saturday. 

However, atmospheric moisture pooled across the Deep South will result in precipitation lingering through the weekend, with additional rainfall expected to total 1 to 2 inches or more from parts of Texas and southern Oklahoma to the Mississippi Delta.

Meanwhile, chilly air will continue to settle southward, leading to weekend freezes throughout the northern Plains and upper Midwest, as well as portions of the central High Plains.
