The American Soybean Association says the updated guidance for sustainable aviation fuel tax credits is a mixed bag.
ASA President Josh Gackle, a farmer from North Dakota, says the 40B Greenhouse gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy use in Technologies (GREET)model provides a pathway for soy oil-based fuel to qualify for the tax credit. He tells Brownfield it also assigns the feedstock a better carbon intensity reduction score.
“Making sure what farmers are producing can qualify for those programs is something that we will always be working on,” he said.
