Arkansas farmers make planting progress, despite rain

Farmers in Arkansas were able to make some planting progress last week, despite rainfall keeping many out of the fields for about half of the week.

The USDA says 91% of corn is planted and 76% has emerged, both well ahead of the respective five-year averages, and 64% of the crop is in good to excellent shape, up 2% on the week.

65% of soybeans are planted and 46% have emerged, also both faster than average.
