Another up week for broiler hatchery numbers

Broiler hatchery numbers continue to point to larger supplies later this year.

The USDA says 246.559 million eggs went into incubation last week, slightly higher than a week ago and up 1% from a year ago, with the average hatchability rate remaining around 79%.

Placements of hatched chicks into the meat production system were 190.38 million head, also up slightly on the week and 2% above last year, with those chickens moving to market in late June and early July.
