Ruiz selected as GPAC Mens Soccer Offensive player of the week

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Following an outstanding offensive performance against Culver-Stockton (Mo.) last week, Northwestern men’s soccer forward Alex Ruiz has been named the GPAC Offensive Player of the Week.

“Alex has emerged as a top player in our program and in the GPAC,” head coach Dan Swier stated. “He does so much to help our attack and in the Culver-Stockton match he was able to capitalize on his opportunities.”

Ruiz accounted for every Northwestern goal in last week’s 4-0 shutout, netting three goals and tallying an assist. It was the second career multi-goal match for Ruiz, who had a previous career-high of two goals last season at Waldorf. The senior is currently tied for the team and GPAC lead in goals (3) and leads the team in points (7).

Ruiz becomes Northwestern’s first GPAC Player of the Week selection since Tim Kaltenberger on October 24, 2023.
