Northwestern softball in the NAIA Top 10

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Red Raider softball has received a spot in the top 10 of the NAIA Coaches’ Poll for the first time in program history, ranking No. 9 in this week’s edition. The Raiders moved up two spots from the poll on April 3, when they were ranked No. 11.

The Raiders currently sit tied for first in the GPAC with a 37-3 (13-1 GPAC) record with eight games to play. They recently completed a 20-game winning streak, the longest streak in program history, winning their first 13 conference contests.

Individually, multiple Raiders sit in the top-five of the GPAC leaderboard in various stat categories. Offensively, Ashtyn Billings leads the league in stolen bases (18), Kameryn Etherington is second in batting average (.450) and fourth in RBIs (40), and Gwen Mikkelsen is fifth in batting average (.398). On the pitching side, the Raiders boast the top three pitchers by ERA (Kate Kralik – 0.90, Ellie Jacobson – 1.04, Etherington – 1.06), while Etherington and Kralik are third in wins (14), and both sit top-five in strikeouts.

The top five was virtually unchanged, with Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) staying in the top spot. Oklahoma City, Central Methodist (Mo.), Cumberlands (Ky.), and Oregon Tech round out the first five.
