ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Red Raider Athletics Hall of Fame selection committee has selected four individuals for induction into the Hall of Fame this winter. Coaches of the Year and the Barnabas Award recipient will also be honored. A ceremony honoring the Hall of Fame inductees, Coaches of the Year, and Barnabas Award recipients will be held on Saturday, January 23 at 6 p.m. in the Rowenhorst Student Center. HALL OF FAME – Tyler Limmer (Men’s Soccer, 2015-18)
A four-time All-GPAC selection and three-time First Team honoree, Limmer is one of the most decorated players in the 30-year history of Northwestern men’s soccer. He continues to hold career program records in goals scored (53), assists (26), points (132), shot attempts (267), and made penalty kicks (7). Limmer scored double-digit goals in each season of his career, including a career-best 15 goals during his junior season. In 2018, Limmer set the program’s single-season assists record with 12. Originally from Brandon, South Dakota, Limmer is a 2019 Northwestern grad with a degree in sport management and coaches at Level Up Soccer in Plymouth, Minnesota.
HALL OF FAME – Dave Perrigo (Football, 1998-01)
Accumulating 5,460 rushing yards and 57 touchdowns in his Northwestern career, Perrigo is the Raiders’ all-time rushing leader and sits seventh in the NAIA record books for rushing yards. In 2000, Perrigo set the single-season record with 2,504 yards on the ground, highlighted by a 322-yard performance against Midland. Perrigo was a two-time NAIA All-American and the 2000 GPAC Player of the Year, while being named a four-time all-conference selection. A 2002 graduate with a degree in physical education, Perrigo is the associate principal at Stilwell Junior High School in West Des Moines, Iowa.
HALL OF FAME – Shane Solberg (Football, 2017-20)
A three-time NAIA All-American and First Team All-GPAC selection, Solberg is Northwestern football’s all-time leading receiver with 4,775 yards and 49 touchdowns during his career. In the 2020 season, he helped guide the Raiders to their first NAIA championship game since 1984, compiling career-highs in receiving yards (1,595), touchdowns (18), and yards per catch (20.4). Solberg collected 22 career 100-yard receiving games, also gaining 5,787 career all-purpose yards. A 2021 graduate with a degree in elementary education, Solberg resides in Fort Collins, Colorado, and is an assistant foreman with Lindgren Landscape.
HALL OF FAME – Anna (Kiel) Wedel (Volleyball, 2017-20)
Wedel ended her career as a three-time NAIA First Team All-American, a three-time First Team All-GPAC selection, and was a three-time AVCA First Team selection. She was named GPAC Player of the Year twice and became Northwestern’s second-ever NAIA Player of the Year in 2019. Wedel’s 3.74 kills per set is fifth on the program’s career records list while her 4.38 kills per set in 2019 is ninth on the program’s single-season list. Wedel also excelled in the classroom, earning NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors three times and CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District recognition in 2020. A 2020 graduate with a degree in psychology, Wedel is a full-time parent residing in Orange City.
COACH OF THE YEAR – Brady Baker ’06
Baker has led the MOC-Floyd Valley boys’ golf team to the Class 3A state tournament five times in the last seven seasons, winning the state title in 2023 and finishing as the state runner-up in both 2025 and 2026. In 2026, the Dutchmen battled to a second-place finish, finishing two strokes behind top-ranked Ballard with a two-round score of 612. Baker graduated from Northwestern in 2006 with a degree in elementary education and was a member of the Raiders’ men’s golf program.
COACH OF THE YEAR – Dan Swier ’05
Earning GPAC Coach of the Year honors for the second time following the 2025 season, Swier guided a young team to the GPAC regular-season championship. Under his direction, Northwestern posted a 13-2-3 overall record, going 8-1-1 in conference play. The Raiders compiled eight shutouts on the year, dished out 43 assists, and had the best goals against average in the conference (0.72). Swier has an impressive 185-127-31 record in 18 seasons at Northwestern, where he has guided the Raiders to three GPAC titles and two national tournament appearances.
COACH OF THE YEAR – Jordan TeGrootenhuis ’11
TeGrootenhuis led the Rock Valley High School girls’ basketball team to a state title following a 25-2 season. The Rockets ran the Siouxland Conference, going 15-1 in conference play. Rock Valley picked up eight consecutive wins to earn the state championship, capping off the run by avenging an earlier loss to Hinton with a 67-57 win. TeGrootenhuis graduated from Northwestern in 2011 with a degree in biology health professions and was a member of the Red Raider football team.
BARNABAS AWARD – Dr. Matthew Negaard ’12
A 2011 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention, two-time All-GPAC infielder, and GPAC Gold Glove winner, Negaard serves as a sports medicine and emergency medicine physician at Forte Sports Medicine in Indiana and is a team physician for the Indianapolis Colts. After graduating in 2012 with a degree in biology health professions, Negaard attended the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He is a recognized leader in musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures and contributes to national education initiatives, research collaborations, and physician training in sports medicine and emergency medicine.
