Northwestern Hires Vitor Pereira as Next Women’s Soccer Head Coach

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College has announced the hiring of Vitor Pereira as its next women’s soccer head coach.

In two seasons as the assistant women’s soccer coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Pereira developed practice routines, took on recruiting responsibilities, and oversaw budgeting for one of the top programs in the NAIA. While on staff, the Eagles compiled a record of 32-4-7, reaching the NAIA First Round both years, winning the 2023 KCAC regular season title and the 2024 KCAC regular season and tournament titles. In 2024, OKWU boasted the country’s top defense, only allowing four goals.

“I’m honored to lead this program and eager to build a culture of excellence grounded in hard work, faith, and determination,” Pereira stated. “Together, we will strive for success on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.”

Prior to his appointment at Oklahoma Wesleyan, Pereira assisted with the goalkeepers for Uniad Esporte Clube in Brazil, where he coached his club to a Copa Sao Paulo de Futebol Junior qualification and a state league final.

“Vitor’s passion for our program and campus community, authentic Christian faith, experience in coaching women’s soccer, and background working in a nationally competitive women’s soccer program at Oklahoma Wesleyan University all stood out to us,” Vice President for Athletics Tony Hoops said. “I’m excited to see him lead our program and provide the team with the stability that it needs for the young women in the program to develop in all phases of life.”

Pereira graduated from College of Idaho in 2022 with a degree in business administration, accounting, and finance. He was also a member of the Yotes’ men’s soccer program, being named an NAIA Scholar Athlete and Academic All-Cascade selection in 2021. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration, accounting and leadership from Oklahoma Wesleyan, graduating in December of 2024. He is from Rondonopolis, Brazil and currently resides in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
