SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern sophomore Caleb Tofteland has been named the GPAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, presented by Hauff/Mid-America Sports.
“Caleb ran a smart race,” head coach Scott Bahrke said. “He put himself in a good position at the front of the large field and held on well. His dedication to our team and summer mileage is paying dividends at the start of our season.
Tofteland was the top GPAC finisher and second among NAIA athletes at the Augustana Twilight. He finished in 15th among 478 runners, crossing the finish in a time of 15:13.6.
Northwestern senior Emily DeGroot has been named the GPAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, presented by Hauff/Mid-America Sports.
“Emily just went out and competed,” said head coach Scott Bahrke. “I’m proud of her for racing a 5K PR in her senior year. It was a great start to the season for Emily and our ladies!”
DeGroot was the top GPAC finisher and second among NAIA athletes at the Augustana Twilight on Friday night. She ran a 5K personal best of 18:10.6 to finish 21st overall at the event.
The Raiders will compete again this Saturday, running at the Dordt Sunflower Open.
