NCC Thunder Soccer and Sports Shooting Recap: Men’s and Women’s Soccer Compete at Marshalltown; Sports Shooting Prepares for Home Competition

Marshalltown, Iowa – The Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) Thunder soccer teams traveled to Marshalltown on Saturday, September 21, for an exciting day of competition against Marshalltown Community College.

Men’s Soccer Recap:
The Thunder men took to the field first, putting in a hard-fought performance. Tom Salim led the team offensively, netting a goal with an assist from Alejandro Henao. The team took two shots on goal, with Salim’s strike being the only one to connect. On defense, goalkeeper Charlie Prtenjaca made three impressive saves, but the team ultimately fell to Marshalltown with a final score of 3-1.

Women’s Soccer Recap:
The NCC women made history on Saturday, playing in their first-ever Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) match. Coach Thomas’s strategy paid off as the Thunder women dominated the field with an aggressive offense. Jenna Pringnitz set a school record by scoring four goals, an incredible feat for a single game. Additional goals came from Sophia Schwappach and Ana Reyna, both assisted by strong team play. The team executed precise passes, consistently setting up their teammates for scoring opportunities. The final score was 6-1 in favor of NCC, marking the program’s first ICCAC victory.

  • Wednesday, September 25: NCC vs. Northeast Community College (NE)
  • Saturday, September 28: NCC vs. North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC)

Sports Shooting Update:
The NCC Sports Shooting team was off last weekend but is gearing up for their upcoming home competition against Iowa Western Community College. The event will be held on Thursday, September 26 at the Sibley Gun Club – 5855 200th St., with competition starting at 12:30 p.m.
