The Salute will take place on Saturday, August 30 as part of Northwestern’s season opener against Waldorf.

Korver will be honored at halftime of the game, which kicks off at 6:00 p.m. Football alumni and supporters of Northwestern are invited to attend a reception from 1–4 p.m. at Prairie Winds Event Center, with a brief program scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Snacks, soft drinks and a cash bar will be available. This is a come-and-go event, but please RSVP to alumni@nwciowa.edu.

“Larry “Bubb” Korver transformed a young and struggling Northwestern College program into a national powerhouse during his 28-year tenure, leading the Red Raiders to two NAIA National Championships and multiple-postseason runs,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “We are thrilled to honor him at Korver Field at De Valois Stadium as a member of the 2025 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class.”

During the NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salutes, each member of the College Football Hall of Fame Class will return to his respective school to accept a Hall of Fame plaque that will stay on permanent display at the institution.

NFF On-Campus Salutes began with the inaugural College Football Hall of Fame Class in 1951.

Northwestern’s first representative in the College Football Hall of Fame, Korver led the Raiders to two national titles (1973, 1983), compiled a record of 212-77-6, and earned a postseason berth 11 times. His teams were runners-up in 1972, 1979, and 1984 and reached the semifinals three additional times. Korver received NAIA Coach of the Year honors in 1973 and 1985 and is currently 11th on the NAIA’s all-time coaching wins list.

While at Northwestern, Korver developed and prepared student-athletes to not only become great players but also encouraged them to make an impact as husbands, fathers and leaders. He coached 32 NAIA All-Americans, won a conference title in 1994 and was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1990.

Prior to his coaching career, Korver graduated from Northwestern in 1954 when it was still a junior college and continued his academic and athletic career at South Dakota State University where he received his bachelor’s degree. With the Jackrabbits, he earned First Team All-Conference honors in football and was team MVP in both football and basketball.
