Dordt Men Join Northwestern in NAIA Field

The Dordt Men’s basketball team is headed to Michigan for the Opening Round of the NAIA National Tournament. While the Northwestern Men had already automatically qualified for nationals by virtue of tying for the GPAC championship and earning the top seed in the conference tournament, the Defenders received official word tonight as the NAIA released its 64 team field.

Dordt is seeded 12th in the Liston Quadrant and takes a 19-10 record to Lavonia, Michigan to face the host school Madonna University next Friday at 5pm Central Time. The 5th seeded Crusaders are ranked 14th. The winner will face either 11th ranked Roosevelt(IL) or Shawnee St.(OH) in the second round a week from Saturday at 3pm Central.

13th ranked Northwestern is staying at home in Orange City hosting the first and second rounds. The Raiders earned a 5-seed in the Naismith Quadrant and will host 12th seeded Saint Mary of the Woods(IN) next Friday at 5:30pm. Despite being a 4-seed, #17 Oregon Tech will also be in Orange City next week taking on 13th seeded Keiser(FL) in the second game at 7:30pm. The winners will then play Saturday night at 6pm for a trip to the final 16 in Kansas City.

Three other GPAC teams will also be in action next weekend. Hastings plays Mid-America Christian(OK) in Wichita, Kansas, Concordia faces Indiana Northwest in Salina, Kansas and Morningside is a host site. The Mustangs will play Lourdes(OH) in the opening round.
