De Haan and Metzger earn GPAC Volleyball weekly honors

Northwestern’s Jazlin De Haan is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. De Haan, a junior, from Orange City, Iowa, helped the Red Raiders to a 5-0 record on the week and increased their set win streak to 27 straight sets. She notched double-digit kills in every match, except against No. 6 Park, putting down 70 kills with a .333 percentage. She averaged 4.67 kills/set and continues to lead the GPAC in that category (4.52), and is fifth in the NAIA.

Northwestern middle blocker Zavyr Metzger is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Metzger, a sophomore from Larchwood, Iowa, tallied 29 blocks in the five Red Raider matches last week, averaging 1.93 per set on the week. She set a new career-high with 10 blocks in the 3-0 win over No. 6-ranked Park. Additionally, she continues to lead the GPAC in blocks per set at 1.96, which sits second in the NAIA.
