A pair of Northwestern golfers named to GCAA/Ping All-Central region team

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its All-Region teams on Tuesday, with Northwestern golfers Axton Miller and Jackson Laven receiving honors.

Miller, a freshman from Arthur, Iowa, led the Raiders to their second-straight GPAC team title, also being crowned the individual champion. He holds a 72.4 average over 26 rounds, which is on pace for the program record. Miller has placed in the top 10 in six events and has won three. He was a First Team All-GPAC selection, the GPAC Player of the Year, and the GPAC Newcomer of the Year this season.

Laven, a senior from Okoboji, Iowa, picked up where he left off after being named the GPAC Player of the Year last season. The First Team all-conference selection is averaging a score of 72.8 in 26 rounds, on pace for second in program history behind Miller. Laven has placed in the top 10 at five events and has finished in the top five three times. Currently holding a 74.0 career average, Laven is tracking for the best career average in school history. It is the third time that Laven has been named to the GCAA All-Region team.
