On Wednesday, December 27 at 5:23 pm, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 75 and 360th Street, one mile north of Sioux Center, IA.
30-year old Matthew Kats of Sioux Center, was driving a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta northbound on Highway 75; he stopped for oncoming vehicle traffic before attempting a left turn onto 360th Street. 19-year old Priya Eisfeld of Fulda, MN, was driving a 2010 Mercury Milan northbound behind Kats and struck the Volkswagen.
Eisfeld and Kats were treated by members of the Sioux Center Ambulance and declined further medical attention.
Damage to the Volkswagen was estimated at $5,000; the Mercury sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.
Eisfeld was cited for following too close to Kats.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department and Sioux Center Ambulance.
