The Terrace View Event Center in Sioux Center has completed a series of interior updates, including new carpet and flooring, repainting, and deep cleaning ahead of the busy wedding and event season.
The project cost $70,747 and was funded using Hotel/Motel Tax dollars that the City of Sioux Center had been setting aside over several years in anticipation of the upgrade.
Terrace View General Manager Kelly De Haan says the update was driven by both normal wear and feedback from clients who use the space.
De Haan says staff had discussed the project for about a year before installation and worked to complete painting and installation between scheduled events to avoid disruptions. The painting was completed by staff and local maintenance personnel, while Furniture Mart in Sioux Center supplied materials and coordinated installation.
The event center is owned by the City of Sioux Center, which handled the funding and billing for the project using Hotel/Motel Tax funds that had been earmarked over time.
De Haan says the response has already been positive.
City officials say the $17,000 budgeted for convention center repairs in the upcoming fiscal year is unrelated to the completed carpet project and is intended for routine maintenance.
Terrace View Event Center hosts weddings, banquets, meetings, and other community events throughout the year.
