Spencer Woman Injured in Crash Near Hospers

An 87-year-old Spencer woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning near Hospers.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened just before 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 60 and 400th Street.

Authorities say Mabel Rush of Spencer was driving a 2019 Chevy Equinox westbound on 400th Street. Timothy Paulsen of Sheldon was traveling northbound on Highway 60 in a 2008 Ford F-150.

Investigators say Rush failed to yield at the intersection, and the two vehicles collided.

Rush was transported to Orange City Area Health System with what deputies describe as suspected serious injuries. Paulsen did not report any injuries.

Damage is estimated at $15,000 to the Chevy Equinox and $10,000 to the Ford pickup.

Rush was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Hospers Fire, Hospers Ambulance, and Sioux County Emergency Management.
