Siouxnami waterpark saw almost 3,000 more admissions than last Summer.
The Siouxnami Waterpark had an attendance for the Summer of nearly 64,000 people. Much of the attendance was from hot weekends in July. All Seasons Center Facility Director Dave Egdorf describes the busiest times of the year during a September 14th Sioux Center City Council meeting.
“We had sixteen days in July that we had over one thousand people. We only had five days that were under five hundred. So we had a two week stretch in there. I just looked this morning, a two week stretch of fourteen days that we averaged eleven hundred.”
Over 25,000 of the attendance was from members, especially during membership only hours from noon-1. Egdorf lays out when most of the memberships were sold.
“We sold more in February in our little membership drive thing that we do. The twenty percent off we sold more in February than we did for the summer. A lot of people, I mean, not a lot of people. A few people wait to see what the first two weeks of June do, and that’ll determine whether they’re going to buy their membership or not. And this June, we it wasn’t great, so they just didn’t buy them. But our numbers in February were up on that.”
During the season fewer people attended lap swim times, but there were more people taking part in Senior Swim, and there were more people in Summer swimming lessons.
The number of lifeguards at the waterpark stayed about the same as last year, Egdorf lays out how many lifeguards they had.
“We had seventy five on staff, which is huge. Last year we had seventy seven and that was the most we’ve ever had. Um, it used to be if she could get to sixty two to sixty five, she’d feel good about that. And now it’s, it’s great.”
This year Siouxnami had a few lifeguards and concessions staff start a social media campaign called ‘More than a Waterpark, Where Everyone Makes a Splash’. The campaign had over 2-million views from June to August. Egdorf explains the campaign.
“We we take in our staff personalities, the funny moments, the behind the scenes, the videos at the top of the slides when the kids are coming up, you know, we’re high fiving them. You know, most of them by name, if they’re from town, all that kind of stuff.”
The season for Siouxnami Waterpark went from after Memorial Day to August 27th. The All Seasons Center opened public skating on September 13th and indoor public swim on September 18th.
