Sioux County Burger Battle Off to Sizzling Start

The Sioux County Battle of the Burger is heating up as the competition saw its first week come to an end.

Early numbers show voters are already digging in. Four burgers have earned ratings of 9.0 or higher, and 239 individual votes have been cast so far — a strong opening stretch for the inaugural countywide event.

Sioux Center Chamber of Commerce CEO Barb Den Herder says the turnout is about more than just the competition.

Restaurants from communities across Sioux County have skin in the game this year. Participating locations include The Train Station and The Yard Bar & Grill in Alton; Rok’s Bar & Grill in Boyden; Sliders Pub in Granville; Eagles Club, Route 10 Drive-In, and Sportsman’s Lanes in Hawarden; Boxcars Café in Hospers; Hull Cenex in Hull; Downtown Grille, The Fox Hole, The Roadhouse, and Woudstra Meat Market in Orange City; Cedar Rock Grill and Koldy’s Sports Bar & Grill in Rock Valley; Brady’s Pub in Sheldon; and 4 Brothers Bar & Grill, Garden Café at Sioux Center Health, Late Harvest Brewery, RJ’s Indoor Golf & Bar, and Sioux County Livestock Company in Sioux Center.

With several weeks remaining in the competition, organizers say the first-week numbers are just a snapshot of what’s to come. Burger fans are encouraged to keep tasting, keep voting, and help decide which burger rises to the top as the Sioux County Battle of the Burger continues.
