Sioux Center NAPA Store Destroyed in Fire

A Sioux Center business was heavily damaged by a fire early this (Tuesday) morning.  At about 2:15am, the Sioux Center Fire Department was dispatched to the NAPA Auto Parts store on North Main Avenue in Sioux Center.

When firefighters arrived, the structure was fully engulfed with flames coming from the roof.  The aerial truck was set up and used to knock down the fire, and mutual aid departments were called.

Paul Poppin, the NAPA Store Manager says officials suspect lightning may have started the fire, but the ongoing investigation will determine that.  Poppin also says the store was preparing to move as Central Vet Clinic, who owns the property, has a planned expansion that will use the land.  He says the fire moves up the timeline for their move to a temporary location.  Damages are estimated to be at $2.5 million.

The Sioux Center Fire Department was assisted by the Ireton Fire Department, Hull Fire Department, Orange City Fired Department, Rock Valley Fire Department, Sioux Center Ambulance, Sioux Center Police, Sioux Center Utilities, and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
