Sioux Center Health & Orange City Area Health Named Among Iowa’s Best Hospitals

Two Northwest Iowa hospitals are being recognized among the best in the state.

Sioux Center Health and Orange City Area Health have both been named to Newsweek’s “America’s Best-in-State Hospitals 2026” list.

The rankings, compiled by Statista for Newsweek, highlight 800 hospitals nationwide based on quality metrics, reputation among healthcare professionals, patient experience scores, and patient-reported outcomes. More than 6,000 hospitals across the United States were evaluated.

Only 20 hospitals in Iowa made the 2026 list. Both Sioux Center Health and Orange City Area Health also received an additional Patient Experience Award for strong performance in patient satisfaction.

For Sioux Center Health, the recognition marks the second consecutive year the hospital has appeared among the top hospitals in the state.

CEO Cory Nelson says the honor reflects the work of the entire organization.

Nelson says the recognition reflects the community-centered nature of rural healthcare.

Nelson also noted that having two hospitals from the same region recognized shows the strength of healthcare services available in Northwest Iowa.

The Best-in-State Hospitals rankings evaluate facilities using four primary data pillars: hospital quality metrics, reputation among healthcare professionals, patient experience scores, and patient-reported outcome measures.

The list expanded this year from 700 to 800 hospitals nationwide.
