Sioux Center Health Food Drive Underway in Support of Mid-Sioux Opportunity

Sioux Center Health is inviting the community to join in a month-long food drive this April to collect 1,500 items to support local families in need.

The effort, announced during this week’s Healthcare Happenings segment, will benefit Mid-Sioux Opportunity and includes donation sites at multiple Sioux Center Health locations.

Jessica Diaz, a Patient Care Coordinator in the Social Services Department, says the initiative builds on the organization’s mission while expanding its reach beyond staff participation.

Donations are being accepted at Sioux Center Health locations, including the hospital, Crown Point Estates, the Sioux Center clinic, and outreach clinics in Hull and Hawarden. Items can be dropped off during regular business hours, with the hospital open around the clock.

Organizers are encouraging donations of shelf-stable food as well as household essentials such as toothpaste, dish soap, and paper products (items that are often in short supply).

Diaz says the timing of the drive is especially important, as it helps Mid-Sioux Opportunity meet needs during the summer months.

While Sioux Center Health staff have supported similar efforts in the past, this year’s campaign, dubbed Mission in Motion, is designed to engage the broader community across all service areas.

Anyone with questions can contact the Sioux Center Medical Clinic or Mid-Sioux Opportunity directly for more information. The food drive runs through April 30th.
