A Sheldon woman faces a felony charge following a traffic stop early Christmas morning in Sioux County.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Michele Lynn Pattison of Sheldon was arrested around 1:21 a.m. Thursday, December 25th, after deputies stopped a vehicle for multiple equipment violations on Jackson Avenue just inside Orange City.
During the stop, a Plymouth County K9 indicated the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle. Deputies say a subsequent search led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Additional testing showed Pattison was under the influence of a controlled substance while operating the vehicle.
Pattison was charged with possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, third or subsequent offense, a Class D felony, along with first-offense operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
She was also cited for several traffic violations, including improper brake lights, operating a non-registered vehicle, and a title and registration transfer violation.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.
