Seasons Center Receives Grant

The Sioux Center Community Foundation has awarded Seasons Center with a $1,000 grant to update the waiting area of the Sioux Center office location creating a trauma-informed space that will include a children’s calming area.

Funds will be used to purchase updated seating, sensory toys for children, and storage options that will create a more trauma-sensitive, culturally responsive, and age-appropriate waiting area.  A designated calming area will be created for children to relax, reset, or regroup when they are feeling strong emotions from their therapy session, while they wait for their session, or while they wait for family members who may be in a session.

“We are very grateful for this funding and for the ongoing support we receive from the Sioux Center Community Foundation.  We are excited to offer a professional, updated waiting space for clients and visitors,” said Sarah Heinrichs-Wurm, VP of Program Development & Specialized Services at Seasons Center.  “Current research identifies the importance of creating trauma-informed physical environments where behavioral health services are provided.  We want clients and their families to feel welcome and comfortable with the hope of improving the likelihood that those who need services will access them.”
