Ashley WolfTornabane, one of three Democrats running for Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District seat, says her campaign is focused on expanding health care access, addressing economic inequality, and reforming the political system.
WolfTornabane spoke with Sioux County Radio as part of a multi-part interview series featuring candidates in the race. The series includes one Republican and three Democratic candidates, with the final interview on June 1.
Background and Experience
A Storm Lake native, WolfTornabane said her upbringing shaped her political outlook and priorities.
Her work history includes positions at Hy-Vee, restaurants, Wells Fargo Financial, and Paxton’s Jewelry. She also served for six years as director of Christian education at her church before later working as an instructional assistant in the Storm Lake Community School District.
“It really opened my eyes to the needs that are not being met right now from our legislators,” she said.
She launched her congressional campaign on July 4, following Democratic candidate Ryan Melton’s decision to suspend his campaign.
Key Policy Priorities
WolfTornabane identified several priorities she says would shape her campaign and potential time in office:
- Expanding universal health care access
- Addressing income inequality
- Raising wages through a state-based minimum wage formula
- Protecting democratic institutions
- Reforming campaign finance practices
- Supporting a multi-party political system
Following the Campaign
WolfTornabane said voters can follow her campaign through Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and her campaign websites, AshForIowa.com and WolfForIowa.com.
