Pickup Spins into Ditch After Collision at Sioux County Intersection

A two-vehicle crash was reported Monday evening at a rural Sioux County intersection.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened around 5:48 p.m. on December 15th at the intersection of B30 and K52. A 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 44-year-old Salene Escobedo of Sac City, was traveling south on K52 when it failed to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.

Troopers say a 2020 Ford F-150, driven by 51-year-old Jason Orris of Harris, was traveling east on B30 and struck the Silverado in the intersection. The impact caused the Silverado to spin and partially enter the southeast ditch, while the Ford came to rest in the intersection.

One passenger in the Ford, 59-year-old Reynol Rodriguez Jr. of Orange City, was transported by Sioux Center EMS to Sioux Center Health with suspected minor injuries. Orris and the occupants of the Silverado were not injured.

Both vehicles were totaled, with combined damage estimated at $40,000. Escobedo was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
