Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City man has been arrested on a felony OWI and other charges after an incident in Orange City.
According to a press release from the Orange City Police Department, 32-year-old Ruandy Reyneri Avila-Ramirez of Orange City was arrested on Tuesday.
Orange City police say the arrest stemmed from a call of a suspicious person located at the Brew Convenience Store in Orange City. When officers arrived on scene, they noticed that Avila-Ramirez had bloodshot watery eyes and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming off of his person. Witnesses on the scene stated that Avila-Ramirez purchased alcohol from the store and attempted to drive his vehicle away.
Avila-Ramirez was ultimately arrested and charged with OW1-3rd offense, a class D felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges of public intoxication, driving under suspension, and not having required SR-22 insurance.
No court dates have yet been set.
At last report, Avila-Ramirez remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City.
