The Minnesota Twins Community Fund has made several grants to support various initiatives and organizations in the region, and one of those is going to the City of Hawarden. Hawarden Economic Development director Carol Hoogestraat says that Hawarden will receive funding from the Minnesota Twins Fields for Kids Program.
She says Hawarden intends to make improvements to the Louie Anderson field located on the South end of Hawarden.
She says that this is part of an ongoing project at the field.
Hoogestraat says the funding comes at a good time.
The Minnesota Twins Field for Kids Program offers matching grants for renovation projects that enhance community ballfields, making them safer, more accessible, and a better home for youth teams. Since its inception in 1999, the program has granted nearly $7 million to improve over 1,000 ballfields across Twins Territory.
