A Rock Rapids man has died as the result of an accident on Wednesday, on a rural Lyon County road.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened at about 11:15 Wednesday morning, between the George and Rock Rapids about a mile northeast of Edna. It involved two vehicles, a tanker truck driven by 82-year-old Dennis Hayenga of Little Rock, and a tractor driven by 77-year-old Myron Krull of Rock Rapids.
The state patrol says both vehicles were traveling westbound on the rural road when the tanker truck tried passing the tractor, and struck the left rear corner of the sprayer that Krull was towing, causing the sprayer to detach and roll. The tractor also rolled and ended up in a ditch.
The driver of the tractor, Krull died as a result of his injuries. Hayenga reported no injuries.
