Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will begin a new statewide virtual financial education series later this month designed to help Iowans better manage bills, credit, and debt following the holiday season.
The free, three-part series — “Money Smart: Prioritizing Bills, Credit and Debt” — will be held on Thursdays on January 22nd, January 29th, and February 5th, with sessions offered from noon to 1 p.m. and again from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Online pre-registration is required by January 13th.
Carol Ehlers, a health and human sciences educator with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, discussed the program during an interview with Sioux County Radio, saying the series is aimed at helping people regain control of their finances during a time when many are feeling added pressure.
Ehlers said the series is intentionally designed as a three-part experience rather than a single session, allowing participants to learn, reflect, and apply what they’ve learned over time.
Each one-hour Zoom session focuses on a specific topic — prioritizing bills, protecting credit, and managing debt — and includes practical tools participants can use immediately.
She added that participants often report feeling more confident about their financial choices after completing the series.
The program is offered at no cost, with Iowa State University covering all expenses.
More information and registration details can be found through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
